The shawls of Kashmir were the focus of the world, and prized possessions of the aristocrats and rich of Europe.
In today’s age of globalisation, trading works of art is not a hurdle faced by designers and weavers. The greater concern being that while Kashmiri textiles are still regarded as pieces of exquisite workmanship , they seem to have lost their popularity and demand on a local as well as global scale. The decline can be attributed to outdated designs and an extremely time consuming, labour intensive process.
I strive to address these setbacks by formulating a new method which meets the contemporary requirements of maintaining high quality workmanship while conserving valuable time with the help of design and technique. The outcome will be a reinvention of the craft without compromising it’s essence and to achieve these in a sustainably responsible manner.

Macrame consists of a combination of knotted and
fringed yarn. Lately it has become very popular not
only in the home furnishings industry but also in
apparel as fringe is seen everywhere. It would create
an interesting effect when woven to create a similar
look, keeping in mind that this collection is specifically
designed for upholstry. It will add a subtle and elegant
touch to any piece at home.
The 50s were my inspiration for the collection due to their clean, abstract look and botanical elements were often spotted too. These designs are my attempt to make them more contemporary while also including detailed linear sketches of interesting shaped leaves.
Floral textile designs painted using gauche and dyes.
Inspired by a trip to the beach, through these weaves I aimed to capture the intriguing textures and shapes using unconventional materials brought back from the beach itself.
The three samples show how the elements of the beach are affected over time. The first is a sample which enhances the pristine mother of pearl shells. The following two woven comprise of time worn branches and the unique patterns found in the sand due to the ebbing waves along with shells embedded into it.
Art Deco inspired architecture has always caught my interest because of it's bold, geometric design. The best place to start was New York, which is world renown for its beautiful deco buildings towering over every other corner! The color scheme captures the mood and look of the city in monochromatic greyscale.
These prints are inspired by the unique textures found in nature through the forests, seas and beyond in cool shades of greens and blues. They have been created using mixed media and everyday household materials on fabric and paper.
The collection is based on the fundamental units of architecture. They are a culmination of techniques including- soft pastels, sketching, weaving and finally edited and processed in photoshop.
The subject of these conversational prints range from hidden corkscrew to pandas, rockets, and secret gardens! The are a combination of hand painted and digitally illustrated techniques.
